Keith McIntyre

Keith McIntyre was born in Edinburgh 1959. He studied at Duncan of Jordanstone Art College, Dundee from 1978-82 followed by a post graduate year. After winning the Carnegie Award 1982 he spent most of 1983 studying papermaking in Barcelona. Returning to Scotland and settling in Moffat he became fascinated by the customs of rural southern Scotland. Preoccupied with the sexual stereotyping of male dominance as well as the more general theme of fertility. 

In 1983 McIntyre also received the Gillies Award. From 1984-93 he lectured part time at Glasgow School of Art and worked from Wasps Studios, East Campbell Street, Glasgow. In 1987 he exhibited at The Vigorous Imagination at SNGMA again exploring themes of male fertility and daring. Since 1993 he has lived and worked in Tyneside.
