Sue Binns’ functional domestic stoneware is inspired by Mediterranean pottery, Japanese fabrics and ceramics but mainly by 1950’s Rye Pottery which was around her home when she was growing up.
The distinctive patterns are produced by brushing dilute cobalt over the dolomite glaze before firing to 1240 degrees. The seemingly endless combinations of stripes that dominate her work are carefully chosen to suit each individual piece.
Sue makes vases, teapots, jugs, bowls, mugs and coffee cups. Please contact the gallery for available works.
