Paragon is both a landscape, still life and portrait. Sylvia von Hartmann works to her own rules and uses her own highly developed technique to build a personal narrative layer by layer. She lived in the Scottish Borders for over twenty years before making her home in the heart of the Old Town in Edinburgh and Paragon is a composition of the Eildons, flowers from her garden, the interior of her home and a self portrait which looks both inward and outward.
