Victoria Crowe OBE, DHC, FRSE, MA(RCA), RSA, RSW

This Easter weekend, as part of Art & Ornament at Dalkeith Palace, The Scottish Gallery is presenting a special Victoria Crowe collection focussing on her studio practice in Venice and Italy. We have combined our presentation of five paintings with Dovecot Studios who are displaying the Richer Twilight, Venice tapestry.

The Richer Twilight, Venice tapestry, 2019 was created by Dovecot Master Weavers David Cochrane and Naomi Robertson, and Dovecot weaver Rudi Richardson. It is a sumptuous interpretation of Crowe’s 2014 painting of the same name.

Dovecot have a long-standing relationship with Crowe, which began in 2007 with the tapestry Two Views commissioned by the Duke of Buccleuch. Dovecot weavers and the artist have worked on significant projects including an iconic 40-metre tapestry for The Leathersellers’ Company, London, and Large Tree Group, which was woven entirely with undyed wool.

Another Time Another Place by Victoria Crowe and Christine de Luca will be available to purchase from Art & Ornament at Dalkeith Palace for £14.95 and all proceeds will go towards our Art for Ukraine initiative.
