Grainne Morton

Born: 1970
Place of Birth: Lurgan, Northern Ireland

Originally from Northern Ireland but working from her studio in Edinburgh since 1995, Grainne Morton is a former award winning graduate from Edinburgh College of Art. Collecting obscure and miniature objects is the starting point for Grainne’s designs. Through experimentation, objects both formed and found are grouped into ‘collections’ and housed in handmade boxes or series of work. The various precious, found and vintage materials include pressed flowers, old buttons, shells, pebbles, sea glass, typography and print. To complement these found elements, handmade objects such as enamel work, miniature drawings and punched metal are added to complete the collections.

Public Collections include:

National Museums Scotland, Edinburgh; Crafts Council Collection, London; Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canada; Ulster Museum, Belfast
