James and Tilla Waters currently live and work on an isolated farm in mid-Wales with their three daughters. Both having Fine Art backgrounds and trained in production throwing, they feel grounded in functionality. They met each other during an apprenticeship with Rupert Spira and subsequently set up their own pottery in 2002. All of their work is thrown on the wheel using porcelain and stoneware clay bodies.

'Our partnership combines James’s making skills with Tilla’s love of colour and design. Our practice is rooted in the production of thrown tableware, using both stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. We think it’s important that each piece feels nice in the hand, works well and looks great.'
