Stephanie graduated from Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1980, with a degree in silversmithing and jewellery design. She began work as a jeweller in Leicester before setting up her own studio in the Lake District in 1986 and then in Cornwall in 1990. Her work has attracted regional and national awards and has completed commissions for National Theatre London and the Royal Yacht Britannia.

‘The joy of making things by hand and a sense of bringing materials to life is what I love about jewellery making. I work intuitively and in response to exquisite textures and forms in nature, aiming to create jewellery that is sculptural yet eminently wearable. Innovative use of materials by contemporary Japanese fashion and textile artists help to inspire and inform my work’ - Stephanie Johnson
