Alison Kinnaird

Alison Kinnaird

MBE

Alison Kinnaird is one of the world’s leading glass artists and engravers, with work in international public, royal and private collections. Kinnaird’s glass ranges from small intimate pieces to large-scale architectural installations which incorporate light and colour. A recipient of many awards and winner of many competitions, her creative contribution was recognised in 1997, when she was presented with an M.B.E. for services to art and music. She works primarily from her home and studio, a converted church near Edinburgh, Scotland.

‘Copper-wheel engraving allows for a degree of precision that appeals to Alison Kinnaird. Every line she engraves, whether it is clear and bold or thin and wispy, is fully intentional. Her drawing is about detail, and an attention to details builds the fuller picture. One is attracted first and foremost by her great drawing skills, all the more impressive because of the technical mastery required in this medium.’ Dan Klein, Artists in Glass 2001
