Anda Paterson

Anda Paterson, born in Glasgow in 1935, was a pivotal figure in Scotland’s art scene for 70 years. A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, she co-founded the Glasgow Group of Artists in 1957 alongside the artist James Morrison and her husband and fellow artist, James Spence. Her unique artistic vision challenges the conventions of her time, focusing on the marginalized and overlooked members of society. By portraying beggars, peasants, and those affected by conflict, she elevates the experiences of everyday lives to the forefront of her work.
