Gilly Langton

Gilly Langton

Gilly Langton is a contemporary jewellery designer based in the small fishing village of Plockton in the Scottish Highlands.

Gilly’s work is characterised by her use of architecturally inspired silver combined with vivid colours of hand-dyed elastic. Each piece is made by Gilly in small batches using recycled silver and limited dyeing processes, considering every aspect of sustainability in her workshop.

Colour is the impetus of Gilly’s work, combining the strength of the silver and the softness of the elastic, these two chosen materials marry together beautifully. Inspired by Gilly’s nautical surroundings, where she engages daily with the changing hues upon the seascapes and landscapes. Each colour is a direct response to living and working in the small Highland fishing village of Plockton. Nautical equipment scattered along the harbour creates a starting point for each piece and is realised through the use of photography, sketchbook and sampling to document, research and develop every new piece of work.
