The Mark Hearld Christmas Collage Competition

22 December 2022

To celebrate Mark Hearld’s A Flight of Fancy we bring you The Mark Hearld Christmas Collage Competition! To herald in Christmas we asked you to write a poem about a hare for your chance to win an original Hare collage by Mark Hearld created specially for The Scottish Gallery.

We are pleased to announce that the winner is The Hare by Kathryn Sclater!

Written in an Orcadian dialect, the poem is a celebration of a hare, capturing the joy of witnessing its movement and vitality, the same qualities which inspired Mark Hearld’s own artwork. A huge thank you to all the writers who took part, we received close to 100 entries and enjoyed reading every single poem.

You can listen to Kathryn reciting her poem below – congratulations Kathryn!
