Celebrate Edinburgh Art Festival at The Scottish Gallery with artist talks, exhibition tours, live music, coffee mornings and special events. Meet our exhibiting artists in person or online, discover the stories behind the exhibitions and experience the best of The Scottish Gallery throughout the Festival season. All are warmly welcome.
Festival Saturday Opening
Saturday 1 August | 11am – 1pm (Gallery open until 4pm)
Join us as we launch our Edinburgh Art Festival programme and celebrate the opening of exhibitions by Kate Downie, Stephen Bird and Jacqueline Mina OBE.
Enjoy complimentary Carter Coffee between 11am and 12 noon before raising a glass with the artists at midday. With live music, beautiful new exhibitions, and the opportunity to meet the artists in person, this is the perfect way to begin your Festival season.
Our Gallery team will also be on hand throughout the day to introduce our twentieth edition of Modern Masters, celebrating The Scottish Gallery’s historical series.
To mark the opening weekend of the Festival, we are extending our opening hours until 4pm.

The Scottish Gallery House Rules for Events
The Scottish Gallery is delighted to welcome visitors to our exhibitions, events and private views. We offer a warm and inclusive environment where artists, collectors, friends, and first-time visitors can enjoy art, conversation, and hospitality.
To ensure everyone has a positive experience, we kindly ask all guests to:
- Treat our artists, visitors, team and neighbours with courtesy and respect
- Enjoy refreshments provided during the event in the spirit in which they are offered
- Drink responsibly and behave in a manner appropriate to a public cultural event
- Respect the artworks, displays and Gallery spaces at all times
- Follow any reasonable requests made by members of the Gallery team
The Scottish Gallery is an independent, privately owned gallery. While our exhibitions are free to visit during normal opening hours (Tuesday – Friday 10.30 – 6pm and 11-2pm on Saturdays), our events are hosted by invitation or registration and are intended to provide an enjoyable experience of The Gallery for all guests. We reserve the right to refuse admission or ask any individual to leave an event where their behaviour is inconsistent with the welcoming atmosphere and values of The Scottish Gallery.
