Kate Downie | Lunchtime Talk
Tuesday 11 August | 12.30 – 1.10pm
Join Kate Downie for a special lunchtime introduction to Grasslands.
Kate will discuss the walks, field research and close observation that underpin this beautiful new exhibition, exploring how drawing, photography and painting come together to celebrate Britain’s rich grassland habitats. An opportunity to hear directly from one of Scotland’s leading painters about her creative process and lifelong engagement with landscape.

The Scottish Gallery House Rules for Events
The Scottish Gallery is delighted to welcome visitors to our exhibitions, events and private views. We offer a warm and inclusive environment where artists, collectors, friends, and first-time visitors can enjoy art, conversation, and hospitality.
To ensure everyone has a positive experience, we kindly ask all guests to:
- Treat our artists, visitors, team and neighbours with courtesy and respect
- Respect the artworks, displays and Gallery spaces at all times
- Follow any reasonable requests made by members of the Gallery team
The Scottish Gallery is an independent, privately owned gallery. While our exhibitions are free to visit during normal opening hours (Tuesday – Friday 10.30 – 6pm and 11-2pm on Saturdays), our events are hosted by invitation or registration and are intended to provide an enjoyable experience of The Gallery for all guests. We reserve the right to refuse admission or ask any individual to leave an event where their behaviour is inconsistent with the welcoming atmosphere and values of The Scottish Gallery.
