Saturday Opening | Meet Emily Sutton

Saturday 31st October | 11am–1pm | RSVP
Coffee Morning | 11am–12 noon | Toast to the Artists at 12 noon | Live music
Gallery open until 2pm

We are delighted to welcome Emily Sutton back to Edinburgh from York for the opening of Animals Everywhere. Emily studied at Edinburgh College of Art, so this exhibition is something of a homecoming, and we cannot wait to share her wonderful new work.

Emily has an extraordinary eye for the animals and small details that surround us, from dogs in the street and pigeons perched on buildings to horses in the countryside and cats curled up at home. Her paintings and drawings are full of life, humour and affectionate observation. For this exhibition, she has also returned to embroidery, an important part of her early practice at Edinburgh College of Art, creating a new collection of monochrome works featuring animals both familiar and exotic.

Come and meet Emily, hear about the inspiration behind her paintings, drawings and embroideries, and enjoy discovering her richly detailed world. There is always something to make you smile and something you might not have noticed at first glance.

Join us for coffee from 11am, followed by a toast to the artists at noon. We will have live music from Roland Fraser and perhaps a few subtle Halloween surprises! Everyone welcome.

Gallery open until 2pm.

Please note that The Gallery is on two floors, which is accessed by sets of stairs. Our Garden is open during fair weather only.
