This long awaited exhibition will be the largest survey of her paintings since her retrospective at the National Galleries of Scotland in 2011. Renowned for her detailed and lyrical watercolours of flowers and ‘table-top’ compositions, this exhibition hopes to illuminate some lesser known aspects of Blackadder’s oeuvre, including rare European landscapes from the 1950s and 1960s. Blackadder’s association with The Scottish Gallery began as long ago as1961, and we are delighted to present this exhibition to the local and international audience that Edinburgh welcomes every August. Blackadder’s reputation is secure as one of Britain’s most beloved painters, but her reputation can only grow as a new audience discovers her genius. This exhibition Decades, will feature work from every decade of the artist's career, from the 1950s to the present day.
