Line Weaving features brightly patterned, hand-crafted baskets by the Baba Tree Basket Company in Ghana. They have been preserving the craft of basket-weaving from the Gurunsi community in Bolgatanga for the last 15 years. Over 250 artisans practice the time-honoured hand-weaving technique using elephant grass. As a strong contrast, Line Weaving includes a large tapestry by Gudrun Pagter, who has been weaving since graduating from Design School Kolding, Denmark in 1975. Gudrun’s minimal tapestries explore, and play with, perspective and three-dimensional space.
'I use lines and shapes to achieve a tension and a spatial effect, with inspiration drawn from architecture.'
- Gudrun Pagter
