Last week James Holloway, former Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, popped into The Gallery to sign several copies of his latest hard back, limited edition book Recollection | Scottish Art from Julius Caesar to Osama bin Laden which is an astonishing account of how his collection of Scottish paintings came into existence. His interest in history of art began with visits to the London galleries with his father. The National Gallery was always his favourite.
