About John Byrne
John Byrne (1940–2023) was one of Scotland’s most celebrated artists, renowned for his exceptional draughtsmanship, inventive imagination and deeply personal approach to painting. Born and raised in Ferguslie Park, Paisley, he studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1958 to 1963 and went on to establish a career that encompassed painting, drawing, printmaking, theatre design and writing.
