Arts Council of Wales Chair, Phil GeorgeThe Arts have always provided enjoyment and solace, especially in times of crisis. They are sorely missed in a world confined to self‑isolation and will be hugely important in the period of recovery from this grim pandemic. It’s therefore essential that we do everything possible to ensure that artists and arts organisations survive and regain their position at the heart of Wales’s culture and well‑being.

The Scottish Gallery Update
The cultural sector has had to think and act quickly and effectively in order to follow Government advice. The Scottish Gallery has closed its doors temporarily for the first time in 178 years. The safety of our staff and gallery visitors is our priority. However, we are still very active and you can join us online instead where you can view our current and forthcoming exhibition programme. The team is still available for questions or enquiries by email and we are working hard to ensure we have exciting social media content to keep you company and our website is up to date. Please enjoy and follow us!
Great Scots In Isolation
During these uncertain times we wish to provide a unique glimpse into gallery artists’ studios as many are busy creating behind closed doors. We have asked gallery artists if they would like to make a short film describing what life is like for them in the lockdown. We weren’t sure what the response was going to be, given everyone’s different circumstances, but it has been overwhelmingly positive. We would like to thank all the artists who have taken the time or are in the process of filming.
All the film clips compiled so far can be viewed in our blog here. They are being posted online and will be on our film section of our website very soon – we are delighted, surprised and overjoyed with the positive feedback.
Below is a fine example from Jonathan Christie – enjoy!
