HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was a great friend of the painter Earl Haig (1918-2009).
The following images capture a visit to The Scottish Gallery in 1981, at its Castle Street location, to see his friend’s latest exhibition. He enjoyed a tour of The Gallery which also included an exhibition by the ceramicist Jennifer Lee. Prince Philip was a great patron of the arts and acquired emerging talent regularly from The Royal Scottish Academy Summer Show.
