Fiona Hamilton joined the team in May 2021 as Front of House and and she has been an invaluable asset to The Gallery ever since. You may have already met her! She loves welcoming visitors, or you might have received a hand-written thank you note from Fiona which go out with every package.
Joining The Gallery in these unprecedented times has been challenging and rewarding, in particular managing 300+ visitors daily for The Joan Eardley Centenary Exhibition in August - ensuring everyone felt safe and enjoyed their experience.
Born and raised in The Highlands, Fiona moved south to Glasgow to study Decorative Arts at Glasgow University in 1996. A move to Edinburgh followed where Fiona, with her keen eye for a tiny hallmark, became silver specialist at Bonhams, Edinburgh, where she remained for 23 years.
In her spare time Fiona enjoys the humorous writing of A.A Gill, coastal walks with her children, and wandering round vintage stores, where she hopes to stumble across the next Fabergé treasure. She also loves banging a large drum for Commotion – Edinburgh Women’s Samba Band, with performances including The Royal Highland Show and The Moonwalk.
When she feels her tranquility needs refurbished Fiona delights in visiting far-flung destinations with her fun-loving mother!
