Modern Masters Series

The Modern Masters series was first conceived ten years ago and has been a platform for us to celebrate Scottish painting and explore The Gallery’s unique history, providing academic notes and provenance information from our unique daybooks and archive. The exhibitions have brought together artists past and present, with an eye on rediscovery and changing perceptions. Artists are exhibited individually and in the context of their peers,  providing dialogue between contemporaries and across generations. The accumulating publications, now spanning 15 catalogues, provide real insight into 20th-century Scottish art.
