Large Tree Group, Winter | Victoria Crowe19 Nov 2019
Special Winter Talk | Saturday 30 November
A discussion of the making and magic behind Large Tree Group, Winter by Victoria Crowe will be hosted by The Scottish Gallery on 30 November.
Victoria painted Large Tree Group in 1975, and it has since become an iconic work from A Shepherd's Life series. The etching and screenprint made in 2014 pays homage to the enduring memory and impact of the shepherd Jenny Armstrong. Dovecot Studios commissioned a large-scale tapestry of Large Tree Group, unveiled in 2013 in the exhibition Fleece to Fibre during the Edinburgh International Festival. The tapestry was subsequently acquired for the permanent collection of National Museums Scotland.
Artist and printmaker Robert Adam will discuss the making of Large Tree Group, Winter by Victoria Crowe, accompanied by a silent film illustrating the production process. Victoria Crowe will be in attendance.
Tickets are free, but RSVP essential. To register for the event, please click here.
Outwith the edition, we have consigned four artist proofs from Graal Press. These were thought to vary too drastically to be included in the edition of the print. These four 'APs' (which are yet to be signed!) are each unique and offer a beautiful variation of tone. Please contact The Gallery for more information.
On the 3 November, Christina Jansen and Elizabeth Jane Campbell visited Robert Adam, artist and printmaker with GRAAL Press, to film the printmaking process of Victoria Crowe's Large Tree Group, Winter. We were delighted to be joined on the day by Victoria. Please take a look at our film below.
