An Extended Family Affair!10 Dec 2020
Since Jamie Spencer joined the Macdonald/Ryan family 25 years ago (he is married to Julia, Frances’ daughter) Frances Macdonald and Ross Ryan have supported the charity he founded and runs, Feedback Madagascar, with a shop at the Crinan Hotel and by donating pictures for auction. They have raised tens of thousands of pounds for the charity’s vital work to improve the lives of the people and conserve the unique wildlife of this magical island.
The Scottish Gallery supported Feedback Madagascar with a pop-up shop last year selling wild silk and handicrafts from their projects. In May this year, before the pandemic closures, we were going to host the launch of their Whisky for Water fundraising collaboration with the record-breaking Atlantic rowers, the MacLean brothers, and their father Charlie MacLean.
To coincide with their current exhibition A Family Affair, Frances Macdonald and Ross Ryan are putting up for auction these stunning pictures below. All the proceeds will go directly to Feedback’s work in Madagascar. This is literally a life saver when usual fundraising events have been curtailed and needs have escalated.
In direct response to the pandemic Feedback Madagascar is emergency feeding thousands of under nourished children, has built one of Madagascar’s only four testing centres and has installed a water system in a regional hospital in the second city. It serves a population of 2 million people and has not had water for 30 years. That is how poor the country is.
Jamie has brought so much good to me and our family. He has literally transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, especially in Madagascar. What more could you ask for in a brother-in-law!Ross Ryan
To bid for these pictures, please do so directly with Feedback Madagascar here or contact Jamie directly tel: 07551955927 email: email@example.com
Closure of the auction is at midnight Wednesday 23rd December 2020.
Enjoy our short film below as we hear directly form Jamie.
