The Body/Politics: Women as Subject and Object in the History of Art is a discursive essay which examines the history of women artists from the 16th century to the present day and explores why numerous women artists were forgotten, highlighting some of the barriers and obstacles women have had to overcome and still endure. John Finlay is a historian of French history, specialising in twentieth-century modern art. He has published several books including Art History, Picasso’s World, Pop! The World of Pop Art and he is the co-author of Andy Warhol: The Mechanical Art. Finlay lives and works in Edinburgh.
