Katie Horsman was born in North London in 1911 and studied at the Royal College of
Art, graduating in 1936. She joined the staff of Edinburgh College of Art in 1943 where
she lectured in Design and Ceramics until 1976. She became a close friend to many of the
artists of the Edinburgh School, in particular Redpath, Michie, McClure, Houston
and Blackadder.
