Malcolm Appleby has worked with die-stamping for decades, often using vintage dies alongside his own designs. These are not mass-produced objects. Each piece is individually struck, finished and often reworked by hand, giving it a unique surface and character. Many works carry a second design on the reverse, or a distinctive Appleby pattern, adding depth and an element of quiet discovery.

Malcolm Appleby (b.1946, London) is one of Britain’s most distinguished silversmiths and engravers, celebrated for his inventive approach to line, form and surface. He studied at the Central School of Art, Sir John Cass School of Art, and the Royal College of Art in London before establishing his studio in Scotland in 1969, where he continues to work.
