<p>Janise Yntema was born in New Jersey in 1962 and studied at Parsons School of Design and Art Students League of New York. Based predominantly in Brussels she is a landscape painter who works using wax encaustic and pigment, and more recently digital photography. Yntema has exhibited her work extensively in solo shows in London, New York, Amsterdam and Belgium. Her work is held in public collections worldwide including Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and Gutenberg Museum, Germany.</p>
<p><em>In my work, I have sought to create a quiet rarely experienced in modern life, spaces one can enter as worlds unto themselves, psychologically vast fields where stillness might be audible.</em></p>
<p>Janise presents her solo exhibition <a href="https://scottish-gallery.co.uk/whats-on/where-sky-meets-earth/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>Where Sky Meets Earth</em></a> in March 2023.</p>
