Loch Carron, a sea loch on Scotland’s west coast, separates the rugged Lochalsh and Applecross peninsulas. Plockton, situated on the loch’s southern shore, was a favourite destination for the Peploe family, who often stayed at The Old Manse with their friends Torquil and Isobel Nicolson. Using Plockton as his base, Peploe explored many remote locations around upper Loch Carron and Applecross. This scene captures the distinctive skerries near the Plockton headland, the slanted sails and a foaming sea indicating a stiff Atlantic breeze.
