Frederik de Wit was a cartographer, publisher and artist from a small town in Holland. He established himself as one of the most successful map publishers of the late seventeenth century after moving to Amsterdam in his early twenties. Libraries all over the word hold collections of de Wit’s atlases and maps, including the Harvard Map Collection, The Amsterdam University Library and the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin.
