This publication accompanies Charles Simpson's fourth major exhibition with The Scottish Gallery, Home & Away.
The publication is split into two distinct halves: scenes from the northwest of Scotland, and the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders. At the heart of the exhibition is a series of snowy landscapes painted during the heavy winter of 2020–21. These ambitious winter scenes from around Clovenfords are essays in the interplay between the warm and cool tones and demonstrate Simpson’s skill and subtlety as a colourist.
