Reflections | Michael Lloyd at 70 | Part Four

8 June 2020

This June we celebrate Michael Lloyd’s 70th birthday with a collection of new work; each a love letter to the flora and fauna that continues to inspire his work. Explore Reflections | Michael Lloyd at 70 and discover his new collection online. We have also produced a series of blogs with imagery, film, music and words from Michael Lloyd himself.

Please enjoy part four where Michael discusses his inspiration and introduces us to one of the seven pieces created for this exhibition – Woven Briar.

WOVEN Briar

Woven Briar, 2018, hand raised and chased Britannia silver, H10 x W13.8 cm

Late, but planted my last nine oak trees. Found very long lengths of bramble, cut the thick stalk into two loops, pushed into the ground and wove the remainder into a cage, which should keep the rabbits and deer off. Not the wee beasties unfortunately.
