Blanc de Chine – Contemporary coincides with Blanc de Chine, a Continuous Conversation, an exhibition retelling the story of porcelain-making in Dehua, currently on display at the V&A, London. Our exhibition in collaboration with Ting-Ying Gallery, London presents works from an International line-up of artists who either work solely in Blanc de Chine porcelain or are inspired by a material imbued with a sense of history and tradition. Blanc de Chine porcelain has been in production in Dehua, Fujian Province, China since the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) and Ting-Ying Gallery honours this extraordinary living craft tradition. Established by ceramic designer Peter Ting and writer Ying Jian, Ting-Ying are dedicated to highlighting both traditional and contemporary craft practice. The exhibition includes examples created by artists from Dehua, China and the UK. The Scottish Gallery would like to thank Ting-Ying Gallery, London for their generous help and input.
Exhibiting artists include: Jeffry Mitchell, Jacqueline Poncelet, Peter Ting, Alice Walton, Liang Wanying, Emma Witter and Su Xianzhong.
