The Scottish Gallery presents a major exhibition of Joan Eardley for the Edinburgh Art Festival to mark the centenary of her birth. The exhibition includes her most celebrated subjects: the streets and children of Townhead, Glasgow and her wild, spiritual home at Catterline on the Kincardineshire coast. The Scottish Gallery represented and celebrated the artist throughout her lifetime and beyond. Joan Eardley Centenary sets out to highlight her as one of Scotland’s greatest talents.
To accompany the exhibition The Gallery has created a beautiful, fully illustrated publication including a foreword by Anne Morrison-Hudson, the artist’s niece and additional text and insight by Guy Peploe, Lachlan Goudie and Professor John Morrison.
Joan Eardley Centenary is supported by a series of online events, films, tours and talks, including the unveiling of a new tapestry in honour of this centenary year created by Dovecot Studios.
