Christine McArthur’s Notes to Self, her second solo exhibition at The Scottish Gallery, delivers a colourful, playful and sensitive collection of still life works: her practice encapsulates collage, watercolour, gouache and embroidery. Christine McArthur trained at Glasgow School of Art from 1971–76 and taught at both Glasgow University and Glasgow School of Art up until 1980, when she began painting full time. She has exhibited in Scotland, London and internationally.
‘For McArthur her domestic life, her childhood memories, her deep admiration for the pure form of Lucie Rie, her need to pare down to essentials but embrace chance and whimsy are all expressed in her daily practice.’
