Yusuke Yamamoto’s work is an intricate conversation between landscape, memory, and silver. Trained in Tokyo and now based in rural north-west Wales, Yamamoto’s distinctive chased surfaces draw directly from his everyday surroundings – from sheep-marked hedgerows and woodland glades to the shimmer of light through leaves.
The Dappled Garden is a celebration of this dialogue between nature and material. Each piece begins with a sketch, and evolves slowly through thousands of hammer marks into complex, layered forms. This exhibition marks a significant moment in the artist’s career. Following acquisitions by Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales and the V&A, Yamamoto presents a new body of work that reflects his immersive process and lyrical approach to surface and form. In The Dappled Garden, nature is not simply a reference point – it is a collaborator.
