Wendy Ramshaw (1939-2018), CBE, RDI, was an international champion of modern jewellery, sculpture and design. The Early Years is an opportunity to see rare examples from the 1960s onwards sitting alongside iconic ringsets, brooches and necklaces from throughout her prestigious career.
The Gallery has enjoyed a long creative partnership with Wendy Ramshaw since the 1980s, with all her major projects being launched with us before being exhibited and collected internationally. Picasso’s Ladies (1989), Rooms of Dreams (2002), Prospero’s Table (2004) and A Journey Through Glass (2007) were all originally shown at The Scottish Gallery. Exhibitions such as Room of Dreams, which was designed and created as a theatrical stage set for the jewellery, have become embedded not only in Ramshaw’s spectacular career but also illustrate the commitment by The Gallery to truly original ideas. Wendy Ramshaw was a ground-breaking artist whose designs continue to inspire designers and artists worldwide.
