Kate Black was born in 1981 in Walsall, U.K. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art at University of Wales, Cardiff (1999–2002) and a Master of Fine Art at University of Leeds (2009-2011).
She takes takes inspiration from museum collections, antiques and British social history. Based in her studio in Malton, North Yorkshire, Black works across several mediums including collage, printmaking and textiles.
