Lindean Mill Glass was the long-established partnership of Annica Sandström (Sweden) and David Kaplan (USA), founded in the Scottish Borders in 1978. Widely recognised as pioneers of the studio glass movement in Scotland, they built an internationally respected practice celebrated for its beautifully balanced contemporary glassware and distinctive one-off vessels, plates and panels.
Working together for over four decades, Sandström and Kaplan combined Scandinavian clarity of design with a deep understanding of colour, light and form, creating works that were both functional and sculptural. Their practice became synonymous with exceptional craftsmanship and innovation in British studio glass, and their influence on the field remains significant.
Their work is held in major public collections including: National Museums Scotland, Edinburgh; the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; and the Röhsska Museet, Sweden.
