We are delighted to present the 20th edition of Modern Masters, a series that gives us the opportunity to pause, look back and celebrate the remarkable range of artists whose work has passed through The Scottish Gallery over the decades.

In honouring both contemporary and historic makers, the exhibition celebrates the dialogue between place and person, past and present, revealing how art continues to interpret and renew our understanding of these extraordinary islands.

The Scottish Gallery marks Victoria Crowe’s 80th year with Decades. At its heart is a powerful new body of work, supported by a curation of earlier works from the 1960s to the 2010s, offering a richly layered view of Crowe’s evolving practice.

The Scottish Gallery partners with Dovecot Studios to present Shifting Surfaces, an exhibition that invites audiences to explore the inspiration and collaboration behind Crowe’s textile masterpieces

The Scottish Gallery presents Modern Masters XIX at the British Art Fair 2025, held in the iconic Saatchi Gallery. Celebrating post-war Scottish art, our presentation brings together landmark works by Joan Eardley, Sax Shaw, James Cumming and many more. From tapestry to print, abstract to expressive, the selection reflects our enduring commitment to artists across their careers. The Gallery offers collectors the opportunity to discover some of Scotland’s most vital creative voices.

This December, Victoria Crowe brings us Low Winter Sun as a fitting way to end the year and mark our own winter solstice. Developed over the last two years, the exhibition charts the artist’s journey from her home and studio in the Scottish Borders to the islands of Orkney and back again.

Amongst the Trees is a celebration of creativity and the diverse ways in which artists engage with their natural and man-made surroundings. It also beckons us into unexplored realms, which may not initially reveal themselves, prompting contemplation on the interconnectedness of all living beings.
