William Burns

William Burns (1921–1972) was born in Newton Mearns, Renfrewshire, and studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1944–48 under Ian Fleming and David Donaldson. He subsequently attended Jordanhill College of Education, before continuing his studies at Hospitalfield Art College when Ian Fleming was Warden. Burns worked from Glasgow until 1954, developing an early reputation as a painter of landscape and coastal subjects.
