The Scottish Gallery presents Kate Black’s first solo exhibition, The Women of the Parish, an immersive installation that transforms The Scottish Gallery into a fictional world of domestic rituals, accompanied by a richly illustrated publication offering insight into the artist’s practice.

Kate Black was born in 1981 in Walsall, U.K. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Art at University of Wales, Cardiff (1999–2002) and a Master of Fine Art at University of Leeds (2009-2011).
She takes inspiration from museum collections, antiques and British social history. Based in her studio in Malton, North Yorkshire, Black works across several mediums including collage, printmaking and textiles. Kate Black will be the subject of a solo exhibition in September 2025, expect a creative, immersive experience!
