Cast into the North Atlantic, these islands are defined by shifting light, ancient histories, and a delicate balance between endurance and tranquillity. Each archipelago carries its own rhythm: Orkney’s calm and continuity contrast with Shetland’s raw, volatile energy.
This exhibition brings together artists who respond to these northern landscapes and cultures, including those born there, those who have made them home, and others who have journeyed north to explore them. Across painting, printmaking, furniture, jewellery, ceramics, and sculpture, The Northern Isles reflects the shared heritage, craftsmanship and resilience of these communities.
